Introduction to Developing Grid Applications
14th and 15th March 2006
Lloyd Institute
Trinity College Dublin
Ireland
This course will provide researchers with a practical introduction to Grid
computing, enabling them to develop applications that can take advantage
of the rapidly growing national and international Grid infrastructures. We
will introduce basic Grid concepts before outlining the tools available
for submitting jobs and managing data on the Grid. Practical sessions will
help attendees to familiarise themselves with the basic Grid tools by
developing mini-applications. We will also address advanced topics such as
MPI on the grid.
The primary goal of the meeting is to assist
in grid-enabling both new and existing applications. All scientific users of Grid-Ireland, system administrators and IT managers are invited.
The course will be jointly taught by Grid-Ireland and the UK National e-Science
Centre (Edinburgh) as part of the EU project Enabling Grids for e-Science (EGEE).
